JORDAN BARNES

Born in New Plymouth, New Zealand, Jordan is an award winning painter and known to many as an artistic all-rounder. He derives inspiration for his works through social observations and personal relationships. Jordan is also passionate about songwriting, releasing his debut Album on Lazy Bones Recordings in 2015, followed up by his sophomore album ‘Theories’ in 2017. He says that the process of creating a song or a painting is much the same.

Jordan on painting 2021:

"Often my work is centred around a figure or portrait responding to the environment I choose to place them in. I usually render the works with hyper-realistic detail to capture the viewer's attention, however my goal is to pull them beneath the surface, to expose a deeper psychological narrative happening within the work. As an artist I’m trying to better understand the human condition. I create works that explore symbols and motifs derived from the collective unconscious, with the hope that I’ll discover something new about myself and others along the way."
